You can Help Hurricane Harvey Flood Victims Through the Foundation Beyond Belief – Naturally.

Our soundbite news cycle has already mostly moved to other things, but don’t let that fool you – recovery from Harvey will take months and years.  You can send real help, making a difference in the lives of countless other humans.

Don’t want to take the time to read the details?  Then just Donate here.

Unless you live under a rock, you know that hurricane Harvey brought Texas-sized climate change to Texas last week, with much of Houston and surrounding counties under water.  The usual Christian blaming of LGBT people is still going on, along with people sending imaginary help with prayers.  At the same time, the good side of humanity is also showing, with thousands of people mobilized to help, and donations coming in from many sources.

Part of that help is coming from the Foundation Beyond Belief, where we can be sure that none of your donation will be used on prosyletizing for Jesus, which is no better than useless, and sometimes harmful.  Some details from the FBB:

Humanist Disaster Recovery is now raising funds to assist those most in need in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. This storm surpassed all rainfall predictions, and according to the University of Wisconsin – Madision CIMSS was a thousand year storm. South Texas has had three five-hundred-year flooding events in the last three years, including Harvey.

FEMA estimates that 450,000 people will apply for assistance. About 80% of Texans do not have flood insurance. There are currently 33,800 people living in temporary shelters. Approximately 200,000 people are still without power as of 9/1.

Click on the link above to see more about what’s being done. We all have other expenses (including, for some of us, donations to UU Fellowships, environmental causes, Pagan support, etc), and like them, this is putting one’s spirituality into action.

Again, the link is here.

After you’d donated, sharing on facebook or other social media can help too.
